LOS MALDITOS (The Damned translated by Gwynneth Dowling) (1994)

A boy persecutes an ideal. He has abandoned his house, his family and life because in the jungle, he is trying to find his hero, the Major who is the leader of a mythical revolution. He wants to enroll in that mythical guerrilla whose evocation fulfills him of enthusiasm. When he finally contacts with them, he refuses to believe that the situation he finds is far from what he thought; the troop is just a small part of what they were, human waste from whom it´s very difficult to find the heroes they were in the past.
Accidentally, the boy becomes into the center of several fights to get the power that lead him into a world of violence. At the end, he discovers that both the heroism and the ideal he persecuted reduce the reality to one word: survive. When he understands that, he becomes in witness and accomplice of the last major´s heroic gesture.
